This week I would like to share with you Jason and Cindy S’s 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan. The Fairlane does not have a name per se, but they occasionally refer to it as “The Five-Six”. This particular MoreDoor has special significance to Jason since it has been a local car his whole life. His dad even remembers seeing it cruising the high school back in the 60’s. Jason first saw it himself in a backyard in 1985 and pestered the owners to let him look at when he was younger. He was finally able to get it in 1996 when it was offered to him due to the estate coming up for sale. Jason and Cindy have used the Fairlane both as a family road trip car, cruiser, daily driver, and even their wedding car. With the history of this car, it will only be fitting they hand it down to their teenage daughter…one day.

The driveline was upgraded in 2000 to a 302/C4 combo, they have put 52,000 miles on it since then! The interior remains stock but tidy. The exterior is a black epoxy currently, but there are plans…aspirations to repaint the exterior which has suffered from mother nature’s wrath before they had a garage for it. A few of the obvious and maybe not so obvious exterior touches are wide whites, 1956 Oldsmobile Fiesta hubcaps, shaved hood and trunk, 154 Chevy grille with 1955 Ford surround trim, smoothed bumpers, 1956 Chevy taillight lenses added to the original lenses. The stance has also been helped by removing a coil and a half from the fronts. Jason and Cindy are proud to say they have been able to do everything to the old Ford except the exhaust and chrome work. Good job you two!
Jason grew up around MoreDoors and he loves them all the same as other cars. Just like many of us, he just wants to see folks out driving and enjoying their classic cars no matter what they are. Jason and Cindy will continue to use and enjoy the Fairlane as they have for the last many years. Their favorite car gathering is Hanson’s All Ford 49-59 Picnic. If you see them out and about or at Hanson’s Picnic, tell them I said hi and congratulate them on being the MoreDoorClassics.com Weekly Feature Car!
