Welcome MoreDoor lovers, collectors, enthusiasts as well as the generally interested. This week we have from the Blue Grass state Mr. Clint P and his kickin' 1963 Chevy Belair 6 Passenger Wagon. Clint proudly serves as leader of the Relentless CC, Derby Chapter brothers and sisters of Louisville, KY. Clint had been looking for a '63 wagon for awhile and was just lucky enough to come across this beauty about 6 years ago from a friend in Vegas who had plans to make it a hopper. Even though the car was nearly completely disassembled, they fell in love and were more than willing to take on the task of getting back on the road. Some folks are not into naming their cars, but other folks are. Clint and his wife named their wagon Penny. Turns out, he found a 1963 penny inside the tailgate. Tell me that ain't meant to be!

In case you are wondering, yes, those are older photos. Clint submitted Penny to be featured a little while back but recently painted her. I knew he had painted her so I went and found an updated photo for this feature. Previously, the car was a satin purple with metallic scallops and a lace roof which I was diggin'. I'd love to lace my roof. Penny is awesome with her new paint, all the trim on it now, and the skirts! It has all come together. She is still sporting, and rightfully so, the 14x6 Astro Supremes with 185/75r14 white walls. Clint has also kept the interior simple yet clean with purple dash and trim and the seats are covered with indian blankets. His friends Moose and Greg recently pulled the 305 previously powering Penny, and replaced it with a semi tricked out 355. The tranny is a 700r4 trans and Clint hopes to have a 3.08 rearend in it soon. Who knows, it may be in by now! He has also had the body off, notched the rear frame, installed bags, and made some one-off suspension parts to ensure she sat just right when he put her back together. I must say, he has done a killer job too! I have a bagged truck but don't plan on bagging my '62 until I see something like this.
One of the most important things in life are family and friends. Clint wants to give a big thanks to his CC brothers for helping get Penny to this point. The wagon had to sit for quite some time while Clint's wife was pregnant with their twin boys. However, they committed to each other to get Penny ready to take the boys on their first cruise for their first birthday. It was all hands on deck! Ever since then, the boys have had a special bond with Penny, and she is a valued asset of Clint and his family.

Clint enjoys driving Penny everyday, but his favorite place to show Penny off is the Heritage Car Show in Whitesburg, KY. He looks forward to the day the boys can drive her too. Kudos to you, your wife, and CC brothers for bringing Penny back and getting her on the road. I still have a special place in my heart for the truck my dad had when I was growing up so I'm sure your boys will have a similar bond to her for many years.
