Welcome MoreDoor lovers, collectors, enthusiasts and the generally interested. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! Our first Weekly Feature for 2017 is Jake A's 1956 Chevy Bel Air from Ohio. He and his '56 named Ginger have quite a story too! Having grown up in a car family and his dad owning a '56 Chevy also, it was only fitting that she was a present for his 15th birthday. After a year long frame-off restoration and with the help of his dad and both grandpas, Ginger turned out exquisite just in time for his 16th birthday! Oh, and I can imagine the jealousy in all the guys at school too.

Jake wanted to add custom touches to Ginger during the restoration. To the outside, they matched the original colors very closely but addd a modern flare. The rear door handles have been shaved and the vent windows deleted. The shaved rear door handles look so correct that folks actually ask if that's how it came from the factory. Very cool subtle features! Custom features on the inside include 3-point seat belts, custom trunk panels, under seat lighting, custom tissue dispenser with hidden gauges, custom sill plates, custom third brake light and rear window defroster.

Most of us grew up around classic or custom cars and this carries over into our lives as we get old enough to buy our own. Jake is no exception. As mentioned earlier, he had plenty of help from very knowledgeable and capable family members. The trifive bug comes from his dad too. He loves his dads car very much but the moredoor is more pratctical for cruising with family and friends. He also likes the looks of the back doors.
I'm in awe how awesome Ginger turned out. That being said, she is no trailer queen either. Jake gets her out very often and loves taking her to local car shows and crusie-ins. He particularly likes cruising her to the Trifive Nationals in Bowling Green. They recently completed another trifive family project - '56 Townsman wagon for his mom. Perhaps we'll see that in a future Weekly Feature!?
Be sure to leave a comment below to let Jake know just how great of job he did with Ginger. If you want to see and read more about her, you can read about his WHOLE build on the trifive.com forums.
