I've been working away from home for a bit and between weekends going home I TRY to find a cruise in or car show locally to check out. I, however, am either not often successful at finding anything OR don't follow through with my plans. BUT, I had been preparing for the Goodguys at Charlotte the weekend of October 24th...well, mentally preparing. It SEEMED like a great idea, and I thought I could do a cannonball run down there, take in the cars and sights, and cannonball back. I was probably looking at a 18+ hour day. As the weekend got closer, the reality began to set in and I didn't really want to drive down nor spend the money. The show certainly sounded like it'd be large but wasn't enough to take me to Charlotte. PLUS, I had been studying for a professional licensure exam and really shouldn't have taken that much time away from preparing. Even though I should have been studying, I still wanted to take a quick trip somewhere to...you know...take a break from studying. *wink* So I looked on the local car clubs events page and found the 13th Annual Virginia Fall Classic.
Judging by the pics from the previous years, it looked to have pretty good turn outs and was not far away at all. Plus, for us folks on a budget, it was free to spectators! Heck YA! Although, I did donate cause. It was pretty cool! The setting was Newport News City Park so the cars were nestled in the trees and vendors were setup along the asphalt path. It would've been a great family affair had my family been with me, BUT I did enjoy it alone. There is a car show local to home that is in a city park too and it's just a great setting. Just pure awesomeness. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be up here next year for it, but I'd recommend it to anyone in the area.
